Tendon Pain and Tendinopathy
Tendon pain is common. It can stop or interfere with sporting activities and get in the way of everyday tasks as well. If tendon problems are not treated correctly this can lead to a worse outcome. No two tendon injuries are the same and each requires bespoke management.
Lower Limb tendinopathy
Lower limb tendinopathy is extremely common. In the foot and ankle it includes Achilles and tibialis posterior tendinopathy and plantar fascitis. In the knee it includes patellar tendinopathy (sometimes known as jumper's knee) and quadriceps tendinopathy. In the hip it includes hamstring, gluteal and adductor tendinopathy.
Upper Limb tendinopathy
Common upper limb tendon problems include in the shoulder the rotator cuff and the biceps tendon, elbow tendinopathy (tennis and golfers elbow) and in the hand tendinopathy particularly of the thumb for example de Quervains tenosynovitis.
